Monocellular

Farah Abdul-Rahman & Nate Dorr | 2021 | 5 min

"Your mode of existence is not superior. It is only another state of being."

What might our model organisms have to tell us if they studied our biology and habits in return? There are many forms of life, none are inherently better in all contexts. A lesson that becomes more vital as the Anthopocene accelerates. In Monocellular, a microbiologist studying yeast is sent a message from the microscopic world.

Written and directed in close collaboration with microbiologist Farah Abdul-Rahman, who also stars.

Sound design by Ramin Rahni.
